Brunswick Motorsport founder Dave Ashford started racing back in the early 90's after working for a race preparation company that didn't have any of their own cars out to show off the skills of the race engineers.

Dave first raced in an Alfasud Sprint in 1993 that he built and had success almost straight away, winning his first race after only 10 starts.

This gave him the confidence to make a bigger commitment to the sport and started Brunswick Motorsport to allow him to hone his engineering skills and develop more racing Alfa Romeos.

Throughout the 90's Dave ran a large number of cars as well as developing his own race winning cars, this culminated in winning the 1999 Alfa Romeo Owners Club championship outright in his series 3 Alfa 33 class F.

For the next 3 years Dave moved forward into the modified class B with a lightweight 33, this brought mixed success and by this point Dave was spending more time building and running customer cars than driving his own.

Around 2004 Brunswick Motorsport morphed into Brunswick Automotive which continued the car building theme but now spent a great deal of its time developing cars for endurance racing.

Dave would end up driving at the great European circuits such as Spa-Franchorchamps, Zolder, Nurburgring as well as many others in cars such as Alfa Romeo 156 BTCC, 147 BTCC/Challenge, Mazda RX7 & BMW E46 M3.

The driving adventures even went as far as Dubai and Bahrain where the team would compete with the factory supported teams such as Aston Martin, Mercedes, Subaru and many others.

There were a number of other drivers from the Brunswick stable that raced mostly in the Alfa Romeo Championship., some of those include;

Keith Fawdington - 1985-1998, raced for 14 consecutive years, winning the very competitive class D championship in 1993.K,

Bob Godbold - 1994-2006, raced for 12 consecutive seasons starting with a class F Alfasud Sprint in the mid 90's before changing to a modified class B Alfa 33 16v which was constantly developed over a number of years. Bob had great success over the 12 years with a number of class and overall wins.

Tony Matthews - 2000-2006, raced a class F 33 before moving to a modified class C Alfa 33 16v which performed very well in the years it raced with several class wins and always showing good pace within the class.

Wayne Ashford - 2006-2007, raced a class D 33 initially with an 8v engine in 2006 before moving to a 16v engine in 2007 which allowed him to challenge for race wins. Always finished in the top 3 in class D in 2007 in the races he finished culminating in 3rd in class.

Over the years we had a number of team members who without their input, this simply wouldn't have happened.

We're immensely grateful for the time and energy they put into Brunswick Motorsport, we truly are a team in all senses of the word.
